The Tick Twister is a set of instruments specially designed to remove parasitic ticks from the skin of animals and people.
- It removes all ticks, any size (from 1/10th of a millimeter) and location.
- It doesn't leave the mouth-parts of the tick planted in the skin if used properly.
- It doesn't compress the abdomen of the ticks, therefore it minimizes the risk of transmission of pathogens (Lyme disease, Tick Borne Encephalitis...).
- It doesn't need any chemical products (alcohol, ether,...).
- It enables a quick, easy and painless tick removal.
- It is unbreakable, hardwearing and indefinitely reusable.
Tweezers and other instruments exert a pressure on the tick. The shape of the Tick twister, designed by a veterinarian, takes into account the tick's morphology.
Tick's mouth-parts are covered with backward directed projections; this allows the tick to "anchor" in the skin.
By pulling up on the tick, the spikes will rise and lock the mouth-parts into the skin. The tick may break and leave parts in the skin causing infection. By twisting motion, the spikes fold into the axis of rotation, and the tick is easily removed, without traction, decreasing the risks of breaking the rostrum. The Tick Twister removes ticks by rotation and not by pulling; among all instruments supposed to use rotation, it is the easiest to use because of its shape and its size.
1. Choose the most suitable hook according to the size of the tick.
2. Engage the hook by approaching the tick from the side until it is held.
3. Lift the hook very lightly and turn it. The tick detaches by itself after 2 or 3 rotations.
Use our food calculator for a guide on how much to feed your dog.
Feed as part of a balanced diet. Adult dogs should consume 2-3% of their ideal body weight per day and Just Tripe can form a portion of this. Every working dog is different. Adjust portions accordingly. Wash your hands, utensils and surfaces after handling any raw meat.
To give you an idea of portion size, Dexter is an adult male Boxer, weighing 26kgs. We feed him 500gr per day which is a tiny bit under 2% but it works for him as he does have some treats during the day as well. On the other hand, Maisie is a 2 year old female Boxer, weighing 22 kgs and we feed her the same as Dexter. This is because she is a high energy girl who never walks if she can run, so she needs a bit more food every day. So, use the above percentages as a guide and adjust for your dog, afterall, no-one knows them like you do.

Will my order arrive in one go?
Dogs About Town seeks out smaller, niche suppliers to bring you a collection of doggy goodies that's a little bit different from the norm. Because of this, when you order, you might choose goods from several different suppliers and that will mean that your order won't arrive in one package. For example, if you buy a lounge bed, nose-it toy and a chill pad, you'll be supporting 3 different small manufacturers and you'll receive 3 packages. Now, we know, this might seem a bit odd at first, but we hope you'll agree that it's worth it to find something just that little bit different and be able to support some of the smaller but beautifully formed suppliers and manufacturers.

A Quick Word About Packaging:
The world's resources are precious, so whenever we can, we like to reuse packaging that we get sent. Things like those polystyrene chips, shredded paper or bubble wrap. We also try to choose the most environmentally cardboard boxes we can and this means that sometimes, you'll get a box that looks too big for it's contents. But rest assured, we've done our homework and picked the best option we can, plus any packing that we use to fill the box is likely to be on its second use. Phew.
Your dog’s yummy raw food will arrive frozen and will be sent straight to your door by courier – no more lugging heavy sacks or tins back from the shops, yey!
Between Monday – Thursday, if you order before 1pm, your food will arrive the next day. Orders placed after 1pm on Thursday and before 1pm on Monday will arrive on the Tuesday.
If you are not going to be in when your order arrives, please let us know where we can leave it. It is packed so that it will stay frozen for some time after delivery so just make sure you pop it straight in the freezer when you get home.
The minimum order is 6kgs which is about 1 freezer basket full in an average freezer and approximately 2 weeks worth of food for a 20kgs dog. If you’re not sure how much to order, call us free on 0800 644 4662, or use our Portions Calculator.
